Leadership by Example is one of the Five Pillars at Riverstone. We believe students develop into leaders by influencing those around them by their examples and how they lead their lives. Leadership can be as simple as how students choose to behave in class, at recess, or on field trips. In the Elementary School, we promote leadership and mentoring experiences in multiple ways, including once-a-week collaborative activities between older and younger students, called Buddies. This is an opportunity to build rapport with those older, wiser, and bigger, and provides hands-on leadership and mentoring experiences for all elementary students. Activities may involve telling stories, playing games, and going on walks.

This week, Grade 5 and Preschool buddies made holiday cookies together. They focused on fine motor, communication, and collaboration skills and developing friendships between older and younger students.

Enjoy the photos and best wishes for a happy holiday season.
