Late fees on past due balances are assessed monthly.
In the Elementary School, the process of assigning students to classes is a complex one that begins with the school allocating teaching staff based on projections of student enrollment for the upcoming year. School administrators, with the advice and recommendations of the staff, then organize students into that number of enrolling classrooms. Elementary school class assignments are made the week prior to the first day of school.
In the Middle & High School, math placement is determined by transcripts, Measure of Academic Proficiency (MAP) testing, placement tests, and teacher recommendations.
An online directory of students' and parents' names, telephone numbers, and e-mail addresses can be accessed through the ParentSquare school directory.
Parent and student contact information is to be used solely for the communication of school-related or school-community purposes. Its use for any other purpose is not authorized. Frequently used emails can also be found in our Faculty & Staff Directory.
As an International Baccalaureate World School, Riverstone places a high level of importance on international understanding and cultural sensitivity.
- Students and staff should dress in a respectful manner that would not be considered offensive to other members of the community.
- Parents will be notified and asked for assistance if their student’s clothing is deemed inappropriate for the school environment.
The school utilizes multiple methods of communication between the school and parents, predominantly digital. As a result, it is critical that parents provide up-to-date email addresses to the school. If you need to update your contact information, please email Kylie Dufresne at [email protected] and edit your Information Confirmation Form in Finalsite.
Our bi-weekly newsletter is our primary all-school notification method during the school year that includes notices for upcoming events, student activities and accomplishments, deadlines, and downloadable forms.
Parents with emails in Finalsite will be automatically added to our newsletter distribution list. Other family members or friends who are interested in the newsletter may subscribe here.
Additional boarding program-specific newsletters, auction newsletters, and annual fund newsletters are also sent during the school year at various times.
We encourage parents to pay particular attention to the newsletter and school calendar to stay up to date on school events, activities, programs, and volunteer opportunities.
Field trips take place throughout the year to reinforce curricular goals and to provide hands-on and experiential learning opportunities for students. Most field trips are addressed in the school’s Student Permissions and Consent Form (found in the SchoolAdmin parent portal), but others might require that parents sign an additional permission slip. The cost of most field trips is covered in our annual tuition and fees; for others, a payment may be requested to cover a ticket or entrance fee. Riverstone staff cannot sign waivers for extracurricular activities. Parents or legal guardians must sign these waivers.
Riverstone partners with My Hot LunchBox and Life's Kitchen to offer on-campus hot lunch options. These programs are reviewed yearly. Please learn more about each program below:

Riverstone utilizes a number of different platforms for communications:
Time-Sensitive Communications:
The school utilizes ParentSquare to send mass texts as needed. Parents are automatically signed up to receive text messages once their cell phone information is in Finalsite. Typically, information that is time-sensitive is sent via text, such as school cancellations, bus service delays, and timeframes for students’ return from outdoor activities and trips.
Enrollment, Required Forms, and Contact Information Updates:
The school uses Finalsite, an online software tool, to manage inquiries, applications, enrollment forms, contact information, and required school forms and immunization records. Parents create and maintain their own logins to this system.
Academic Tracking, Assessment, and Direct Email:
The school uses ManageBac, an online tool for planning, assessment, and reporting for International Baccalaureate Programmes. This is also our primary email platform for direct communication between students and faculty, and faculty and parents.
School Directory:
The school uses ParentSquare, a communication platform, to maintain our annual student and class directory. Please see the dropdown entitled “Directory” for more information.
Boarding Program Communications:
The school’s boarding program primarily uses REACH to communicate with boarding parents about overnight stays away from the dorm. The boarding program’s staff uses REACH to manage student locations, leaves, pastoral care and other administrative data related directly to boarding. WhatsApp is also used for daily communication between students and dorm staff.
General Information:
Riverstone’s website is a source of information for the Riverstone community as well as prospective families; however the most current information can be found in our bi-weekly e-newsletter.
Social Media:
Riverstone International School utilizes social media to celebrate our school community, including blogs, Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram.
Grade level supply lists may be found in Parent Resources at the top of this page.
The school provides all textbooks and other reading materials.
- Students in Preschool and Pre-K should bring a nap mat, pillowcase, and blanket.
- Students in Kindergarten–Grade 5 will need a backpack or school tote.
- Middle & High School students will need to bring a personal laptop and a bag that can accommodate their laptop and other materials.
In grades 6-8, Phones will be left in the morning homeroom daily and picked up in the afternoon homeroom. All class breaks and lunch are, “screen free.”
In grades 9-12, no cell phones are allowed in the lunchroom or during class. If a cell phone is seen during class or in the lunchroom by a teacher or staff member, the student will be asked to place their phone on the teacher’s or director’s desk for the remainder of the day.
If persistent challenges remain regarding appropriate phone use, a meeting between the student, family, and the Middle/High School Division Director will be held to determine the best course of action to allow the student to focus fully on instruction during class times.
