Day Student Admissions
Timing is everything
Applications for day students are accepted throughout the year. However, if you complete your application for your day student during the peak admissions season from November to March, you will maximize the likelihood of enrolling your child.

Application Process
The application process for day students includes the following:
- Online application with a $75 non-refundable application fee
- Parent statement
- Student records from the past two years, including academic and behavioral records, transcripts, and standardized test scores
- A recommendation from your child’s primary classroom teacher if he or she is applying for preschool through grade 5
- Recent photo of student
- A classroom visit for your child scheduled by the Admissions team
- Preschool, pre-kindergarten and kindergarten applicants will be scheduled for assessments to ensure readiness

Additional requirements for Grade 6-12:
- Recommendations from your child’s current Math and English teachers
- Student questionnaire
- A 30-60 second video introduction created by your child. We want to get a sense of who your child is in a “byte” size format so feel free to include favorite school subjects, hobbies, pets, or trips/travels, etc. We are not expecting a formal or professional video, but please record with good lighting and clear sound.
After the application process is complete, the Admissions Committee will review your child’s application at their next scheduled meeting. The Director of Admissions and Marketing will notify parents of the admissions decision.
Boarding Student Admissions
Students who are entering grades 8–12 may apply for our boarding program.
Riverstone offers a boutique boarding program that features:
- A personalized educational experience facilitated by strong student-teacher connections;
- The International Baccalaureate Programmes (MYP and DP);
- Small and engaging classes;
- Outdoor education;
- Leadership, service, athletic, and extracurricular opportunities;
- Recently-built dormitory in downtown Boise, one of the Pacific Northwest’s most vibrant cities; and
- Thirty-two (32) students maximum.

- A classroom visit scheduled by the Admissions team. If a campus visit is not possible, we will coordinate a phone or web-based interview via video call.
Additional requirements for international students*:
- English proficiency scores on at least one Internet-based test: TOEFL (TOEFL iBT), iTEP, IELTS, Pearson PTE, or Duolingo. We will consider scores from the PSAT, SAT, ACT or SSAT. Scores must be submitted to Riverstone International School, institution #5985. Please note that we do not accept TOEFL Jr scores for admissions into Grades 11–12. Download minimum language proficiency test scores for international students to be considered for enrollment and those scores that are more competitive.
- Copy of a page in a passport that shows your student’s full name, photograph, and expiration date.
After the application process is complete, the Admissions Committee will review your student’s application at their next scheduled meeting. After this review, the Director of Admissions and Marketing will notify parents of the admissions decision.

The timeline for priority admissions is as follows:
- February 15: Complete application due
- March 15: Admissions decisions communicated to priority admissions candidates (if possible, will be communicated earlier)
- April 15: Enrollment commitments and deposits due

Students must plan to attend Riverstone for both grade 11 and 12 to complete the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. Only students with previous IB experience may apply for grade 12.
Students wishing to stay in the United States and enroll at Riverstone International School for more than a year will apply for an F1 student visa. This visa may be issued for a longer duration up to 4 years. All international students who are applying for the boarding program will be issued a Form I-20, which allows a student to interview for a F1 visa at the US Embassy or Consulate in their home country. Feel free to email the Admissions Office for information and assistance.

The family of any child offered admission into kindergarten through grade 12 may apply for tuition assistance based on financial need. We recommend that you complete your application for admission concurrently with your tuition assistance application. Please note preschool and pre-kindergarten applicants are not eligible for tuition assistance.
New day students who are applying to enter grades 7–9 may be eligible for a Malone Family Foundation Scholarship.
