Students in Grade 5 are collaborating with partners at Colegio CIEDI in Bogotá, Colombia during a unit of study focused on ‘Celebrations.’ In a bilingual video conference last week, students introduced themselves, their family members, where they are from, personal interests, and their favorite celebration in their second language. This session was particularly fun because the students’ language skills have advanced to the point that they are able to ask and respond to impromptu questions.
Riverstone and Colegio CIEDI students will continue to study the history of their favorite celebrations through art, music, and traditions. Over the remainder of the school year, multiple video conferences will be held for the students to share with one another and teach each other about their culture, traditions and history related to the unit.
