Grades 2 and 3 kicked off the winter activities portion of the Outdoor Program up at Bogus Basin Nordic Ski School this week. Heather W., a parent accompanying the Grade 3 students, shared these awesome photos with us and remarked that, “Kids did a great job and they seemed to remember a lot from their lessons last year. Beautiful day with some fresh snow from the night before. All in all a great day!”

In lessons run by the Bogus Basin Nordic Ski School, students practice classic as well as skating techniques. Balance is a critical element of all lessons and after the initial teetering stage, students are quickly zipping around on skinny skis. Another significant element of the program is learning how to operate a new set of equipment; students have to get in and out of their boots and skis on their own and learn to manage potentially awkward poles. They also learn about the importance of layering and appropriate clothing choices which are important components of the winter outdoor program activities.

Makes you want to be a kid again, doesn’t it?
