Bridging the Gap, Grades 5 and 10

In an effort to bridge the gap between campuses, and to promote community building, Brad Baxter’s grade 5 students met with Alex Ide’s grade 10 students on the Broadway campus for a combined science class and lunch gathering last week. Several hands-on style science investigations were set up for the students to explore the concepts of mass, volume, density, weights and measurements. Using the scientific method of inquiry, students worked together to discuss ideas and communicate predictions. After gathering data from each of the experiments, students addressed outcomes and evaluated procedures their procedures. This was a great opportunity for our students and the pizza lunch party was enjoyed by all! More of these events are planned for the future.
