Riverstone students presented their historical projects at the regional National History Day (NHD) competition on Saturday, March 10. NHD has been an integral opportunity for our humanities curriculum for over ten years. Students engaged through research and in-class discussions to explore this year’s NHD theme, “Conflict and Compromise in History,” leading to new insights and original conclusions that students used to prepare exhibits, documentaries, websites, papers, and performances.

Projects are entered into competitions in the spring at local, affiliated, and national levels, where they are evaluated by professional historians and educators. The program culminates at the national competition held each June at the University of Maryland at College Park.

Riverstone students made up 44% of the 120 participants at the regional competition and 38 Otters are advancing to the State competition on Saturday, April 14 at the College of Idaho.

Congratulations to all of the Riverstone students who participated and placed in the regional competition. All student names and their placements in their respective categories at the regional competition are included below.

Please congratulate these students on their success and also thank our dedicated teachers and staff: Joe Beard, Jen Bistritz, Jeff Cole, Trevor Lindsay, and Kate Riede.
