The following was re-posted from the Preschool blog written by the class teacher, Meghan Sterling.

Welcome back! Even after a two week break, the kids returned to our daily routine with barely a hitch. The kids’ attention and imaginations have been focused on exploring new offerings related to our final unit of inquiry: Transportation.

During our morning circle, we discussed what “transportation” means and began a list of forms of transportation familiar to us. We played some transportation related games and read a story about a family of hogs that cycle through several transportation options while trying to get to the Opera House.

During free play, the class was busy – see the photos for details of all the activity. In all the play, we tried to reinforce our working definition (Transportation is what you use to move people or things from one place to another) by asking a few questions including: Where are you going? How are you moving from here to there? What are you moving/transporting? Will you travel by air, land, or water? Some answers were pretty creative!

We’ll spend the next several days identifying lots of different transportation options and discussing what they transport and how.
