Riverstone high school students departed for their Europe 2013 trip to Basque Country this morning. The students and their chaperones will be flying into Madrid and then traveling north to the Basque city of Bilbao, which will serve as the base for some of their exploration of the Basque region. A visit to the Guggenheim Museum, designed by Frank Gehry, will expose students to a wide range of art forms. The cities of San Sebastian, Gernika, and Lekeitio are also on the itinerary. On the 29th of June, students will join in the Festival of San Pedro, one of the most important celebrations of Basque culture. Surfing lessons on the beaches of San Sebastian are also in the plans.

Our students will have the chance to practice their Spanish or French speaking and experience cultural ties bewteen Boise and the Basque Country. We will keep you posted on their adventures.

Safe travels!
