A Downright Fun Adventure

On Friday, February 4, the 7th grade class ventured past Idaho City to build igloos. All semester we’ve studied these structures to determine how they’re made and what tools are necessary to build them. We discovered how to make a curved structure from blocks of snow as we began to make a plan for Friday. Upon arrival, we separated into groups and began construction on four igloos. Throughout the day, we watched as two groups successfully completed full igloos, one built a large turret (we forgot to angle it), and the other, well, we’re not exactly sure how to explain their creation. Through sporadic snowball fights, lots of hot cider, and many, “My hands are FREEZING” and “I can’t feel my face!” complaints, this was one of the best day-trips our class has taken. The trip was so classically Riverstone it brought us together even more, and it was a learning experience for all. Thank you Mr. Brock and Mr. Reetz for making it all happen, and thanks to our teachers for letting us miss class to have such a unique and downright fun adventure in the mountains.

Thanks to Grade 7 student, Cat C, for writing this entry!
