Riverstone Fall Trips for Grades 8-12 are a wonderful tradition in which students not only challenge themselves in the outdoors, but the trips provide a great opportunity to get to know classmates in new settings. Both of these things enhance classroom interactions and classroom learning. One of our themed Fall Trips is the mountain biking trip.

From Chemistry teacher and avid mountain biker, Brad Nelson:

“On the fall mountain bike trip, we do one ride a day over three days. The rides range between 10 to 20 miles depending on the day and difficulty of the ride. This year, we rode Fisher Williams, Trapp Creek and Swamp Creek loop, and the Stanley Lake trail. Even though these rides are long (about 15 miles for the rides the first two days), we can still take beginning mountain bikers on the rides because time is not an issue.

All of the rides are trail rides but some include dirt roads, and even short sections of paved road, to complete the loop. The kids get tired and have to eat a ton of calories but have a great time. We have had several kids sign up more than one year because they love it so much.”

Thanks to parent Dave Beck for joining the group as a second leader and taking photos!
