ManageBac & Technology
At Riverstone International School, we use ManageBac, an online tool specifically designed for planning, assessment, and reporting for International Baccalaureate programs.
In the Elementary School, teachers use ManageBac for curriculum planning and producing semester report cards. After the school year starts, new parents receive an email invitation to create their own login. At the end of each semester, parents are notified when report cards are posted for viewing.
We introduce technology gradually through the elementary years. By the time students have completed grade 5, they are experienced in using Google documents, making movie trailers, posting to a blog, and even coding basic applications. Conversations about safe and appropriate use of technology take place regularly.
In addition, our classes share the use of two Apple computer carts and an iPad cart for class assignments. Students are not expected to bring their own devices.
Thanks to a grant from the J.A. and Kathryn Albertson Foundation, resources from the Khan Academy have become part of the math curriculum for students in grade 3–5.
