Leadership by Example in the Middle School
We value leadership
We believe students develop into leaders by influencing those around them through setting positive examples and leading purposeful lives. Leadership can be as simple as how students choose to behave in class, at recess, or on field trips.
Every day, students have opportunities to set positive examples for others
Middle Student Council
The Middle School Student Council provides leadership opportunities for students in grades 6 through 9. The group meets weekly at lunch and plans activities such as dances and social gatherings.
Engaging with younger students
Our teachers often plan activities in which Middle School students interact with Elementary students. For example, students in Middle School Spanish class write books and then read what they have written to our kindergarten students. Additionally, our Middle School music classes lead an assembly in which they teach elementary students about rhythm, melody, and harmony.
Assisting with community events
Our Middle School students play a vital role in Riverstone’s largest community event — the Fall Carnival — by helping with games and activities.
Riverstone also promotes leadership through:
- Academic teams
- Athletic teams
- Outdoor education
