Athletics in the Middle School

Join the team. Go Otters!

Students in grades 6 through 8 are encouraged to join Riverstone’s athletic teams. Our Middle School coaches prioritize participation and teamwork, as well as foster healthy, active lifestyles. Athletes at all skill levels are welcome.

Volleyball and Basketball

The girls volleyball team and girls and boys basketball teams compete in the Western Idaho Conference (WIC). The volleyball team competes in the fall and basketball in the winter. The teams typically practice after school at 3:30 p.m., and the seasons last about six to eight weeks. Riverstone provides transportation to and from the games.

Soccer

Our Middle School co-ed soccer team competes in the Idaho Rush league during the fall and spring seasons. The teams typically practice after school at 3:30 p.m., and seasons last about eight weeks. Since games are generally held on Saturday, the school does not provide transportation.

Orienteering

While orienteering, athletes use a compass and map to navigate a wilderness course as quickly as possible. We are the valley’s only school with an orienteering team that competes locally and regionally. Our students develop orienteering skills through our outdoor physical education classes, after-school activities, and outdoor education program. Competitions take place throughout the year.

Ski and Snowboard

Riverstone students can compete in the Middle and High School race series held at Bogus Basin Mountain Recreation Area. Final competitions take place during the Dotty Clark races in February. This program has no organized practices, but staff members coordinate the team’s activities on the mountain.

Other Sports

Riverstone students compete in variety of other sports. Aside from volleyball and basketball, Riverstone students can join other athletic teams through their local public school.

We also support students who participate in individual endeavors such as cycling, fencing, kayaking, skiing, and more.

Athletic Handbook

Please read through the school’s Riverstone’s Athletic Handbook regarding any procedures or protocol for your student’s participation in athletics through Riverstone.

Athletes must have the appropriate forms completed and provided to the coach prior to the first practice.
