Admissions for Residential Students

We accept applications for our residential program from students who are entering grades 9–12

Thank you for your interest in Riverstone International School!

If you are a parent of a student who is interested in Riverstone’s residential program, please complete our convenient online application. This online tool will help you determine which required elements of your child’s application have been completed and which remain outstanding.

The application process for residential students includes the following:

  • Online application with a $250 non-refundable application fee
  • Parent statement
  • Student questionnaire
  • Student records from the past two years, including academic and behavioral records, as well as transcripts
  • Recommendations from your student’s current Math and English teachers
  • Recent photo of student
  • A classroom visit scheduled by the Director of Enrollment Management and Administration. If a campus visit is not possible, we will coordinate a phone or web-based interview via Skype

Additional requirements for international students*:

  • English proficiency scores on at least one Internet-based TOEFL (TOEFL iBT) or IELTS test. We also will consider scores from the PSAT, SAT, ACT or SSAT. Scores must be submitted to Riverstone International School, institution #5985. Please note that we do not accept SLEP or TOEFFL Jr scores.
  • Copy of a page in a passport that shows your student’s full name, photograph, and expiration date

After the application process is complete, the Admissions Committee will review your student’s application at their next scheduled meeting. After this review, the Director of Enrollment Management and Administration will notify parents of the admissions decision.

The following information outlines the minimum TOEFL and IELTS scores for students to be considered for enrollment and those that are more competitive.

Completing the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme

Students must plan to attend Riverstone for both grade 11 and 12 to complete the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme. Only students with previous IB experience may apply for grade 12.

International student visas

International students who would like to attend Riverstone International School for either a semester or for a year through another organization in their home country will typically be issued a J1 exchange visitor visa. This visa type is valid only for one year and students on this program will live with host families if a host family can be secured. There is no guarantee of placement for J1 student applicants.

Conversely, those students wishing to stay in the United States and enroll at Riverstone International School for more than a year will apply for an F1 student visa. This visa may be issued for a longer duration up to 4 years. All international students who are applying for the residential program will be issued a Form I-20, which allows a student to interview for a F1 visa at the US Embassy or Consulate in their home country.
